1. This past weekend I boarded a train to ‘splore Florence with two wonderful Bucknell friends! We spent 2 days and 1 night there and saw the Duomo, the leather market, Piazza Michealangelo overlooking the city, and Gallery Uffiizi (accompanied by Rick Steve’s guidebook to the museum. It was my first art history lesson and exactly what I needed to wrap my mind around the medieval to Renaissance Italian art, with comments like “the city was a fire-nze with art at this time” and “this painting represents maternal, divine and romantic love.. but what about the love for peanut butter on toast?” I’m ready for my art history class next semester.) It would be futile to visit all there was to see in that time span, but I loved discovering a new city. I’ll need to go back.
